Harmony Fund is proud to have paid a year’s rent for ADAN Tétouan, an under-resourced but deeply committed animal shelter in Tétouan, northern Morocco, which currently cares for more than 175 dogs and cats. Founded in 2017, ADAN Tétouan is the city’s first charity focused on the protection of animals and the environment. The shelter operates with incredibly limited resources—just a small group of volunteers, donations of food and medicine, and a borrowed piece of land where part of the space has been turned into a basic refuge for the animals. Eviction would have been a dire crisis for the animals here, and this is the second year in a row that Harmony Fund has paid the rent for this shelter, which was so proudly acquired.
“I struggled for several months to find a place that could house all our current animals and the new rescues at an affordable price,” Founder Rokaya Loukili said. “Every year, we rescue, treat, castrate/spay and house hundreds of dogs and cats that are victims of neglect, abuse, and human cruelty, and, ultimately, we do our best to find loving families for every animal that comes through our doors.”
Tétouan has a large stray animal population, and ADAN plays a crucial role in their survival and well-being. Our support in paying the shelter’s rent helps provide stability for the animals and the volunteers who care for them every day. With your help, we can continue empowering grassroots heroes like those at ADAN to protect animals who have no one else.
